Supreme Being 08 Catch Up – From Cambridge to the Artics

Back

Supreme Being Logo

As Supreme Being hit Loaded's must have kick list this month with their new line of sneakers and as the spring/summer 08 collection begins to hit stores, it seems a good time to catch up and find out exactly what they've been up to.

This brand believes that anything is possible. They began life in Cambridge in 1999 as a group of artists, hand-printing tees in a back room, on a handmade table and then selling them, on the street, from a big bag 'for a bit of extra cash' - but here they are nearly a decade later selling a full range of street/sport clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women all over the world. Some things don't change, Supreme Being are still designing, making clothes, making art, making music, but most importantly, loving what they do. Their motto 'Created First Amongst Equals' says it all - you may be no better than anyone else, but no one is better than you either, you can do anything you set out to do.

So what have they been up to? First there's been the collaboration with Artic Monkey's drummer Matt Helders. Supreme Being asked to meet him when they noticed he was a fan of their clothes. What emerged was a range of tees, hoods and a jacket - each piece coming with an exclusive track that Matt recorded with Supreme Being Artist Skuff, £1 from each sale goes to the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.

Then there's the sponsorships, Cardiff rock band, Vibration White finger, top mountain boarder Joe Dickson, rap emcee Klashnekoff and Dance crew, Shock Supreme Being, seen in pop videos and the at the Mobo awards. There's also talk of drag racing, we'll find out more.

Zinedane Zidane, Russell Brand, The Twang and Shystie have all been spotted lately in Supreme Being and there's been extensive press coverage in Loaded, Zoo and Blow Magazines.

The Spring/Summer 08 Collection is still under wraps (we will be back with photos as soon as) but look out for street/sports wear in bold colours with retro influences, military shorts, trousers, jackets, hoods and crews, and of course, the new sneakers. More designs will be added to the CMYK collection (these are the four basic printing colours, Cyan(blue), Magenta(red), Yellow and Key (black) the time for bright colours is definitely here. We'll leave you with the only lifestyle message Supreme Being want to send about their brand, "Wear it because you like it, that's the same reason, we do it." And it can't be put better than that!
