What do you do when you just can't find something to wear that is made of good quality denim? In Hidehiko Yamane's case, you make it. Originally named after Evis, the Buddhist god of prosperity, Evisu started in 1988 after Yamane came across an American loom from the 1950s which could weave more than 40m denim in a day. This meant that Yamane could tailor jeans to meet requirements; his hand-painted famous seagull logo made every pair unique.

Evisu expanded and now has a wide range of men's, women's and children's clothing and accessories. It's not just jeans anymore; choose from tops, jackets, coats and shoos, the famous shoe range. Evisu still remembers it's Japanese roots- kimono print and traditional Japanese methods can be found on many items. Tactile fabrics such as velvet and silk are used in the creations, while woollen items and flared leg jeans provide a modern contrast to the original denim jeans. Whether it's high waisted jeans, skinny jeans, woollen trousers or a Japanese-inspired kimono print item you prefer, Evisu has a wide range of choices.
