The Lacoste brand, with the infamous crocodile logo, arose in 1927 after French tennis champion and Davis Cup winner, René Lacoste, made a bet with his team captain. Lacoste was promised a crocodile-skin suitcase if he won an important match. His friend, Robert George, then designed the famous crocodile which was embroidered onto Lacoste’s blazer which he wore on the courts. Decades later, the famous crocodile logo can be seen on a wide range of Lacoste brand sporting goods and footwear.
