Kid’s footwear can be based upon adult trainers, sandals and shoes, but with adaptations to suit the child. For example, trainers can have added padding for comfort and safety, Velcro straps for ease of fastening, and bright coloured materials. Metal-toecapped adult shoes or boots can be replaced with flexible rubber or plastic versions for flexibility as the child’s foot grows. Footwear can often feature detail such as printing or embroidery for attractiveness. Plain black, brown and flat shoes are often found, which are suitable for schoolwear as they blend in with school uniforms, while flat shoes are more suitable for growing feet.
